Akhil Jharkhand Parathmik Sikshak Sangh hails govt decision on Urdu teachers

Akhil Jharkhand Parathmik Sikshak Sangh (AJPSS) has welcomed the state government's decision to convert 4,401 posts of Urdu teachers employed in primary schools from schedule head to non-schedule head. The School Education and Literacy Department issued a resolution to transfer Urdu posts to the unscheduled category on Friday.

The ministry said that though 4,401 posts are sanctioned for Urdu teachers, only 701 are working and the government will bear the expenses for them only. The ministry said the move was taken based on the finance department's directive that posts in service for more than three years under a plan head can be transferred to a non-plan head. It may be noted here that in 1999 the undivided government of Bihar sanctioned 4,401 posts of Urdu teachers at the ratio of one teacher to 10 students for the districts now under Jharkhand.

AJPSS spokesperson Naseem Ahmad said, “Urdu teachers have been facing hurdles in getting their salaries when their posts are under schedule due to the complexity of the procedures. Now all Urdu teachers will get their salaries along with other government teachers. Ahmad said that the current state government has taken a cabinet resolution in this regard and the education department has now issued a notification.

He said that the AJPSS had been pressing the government for a long time to take the measure.
